LOCAL:
Zanzibar Coffee House Hotel is an old Arab house in Stone Town- the perfect base from which to explore. I stay in the Arabica Suite, decorated in warm hues. The coffee shop on the bustling street level serves really good fair trade Liberian coffee. Lounge on the roof terrace to enjoy sweeping views of the city to the sea.

TRANSPORTATION:

I love sailing. Hire a private dhow and customize a day cruise. Circle the coast, visit Prison Island, go snorkeling and enjoy a sublime sunset.

LOCAL:
One will see many bicycles on the beach- locals taking a leisurely ride to work or just getting around. Hire a bicycle and get away from the road fumes – and it is quicker than walking in the heat!
