  STAY:
LUX:
East is modern and clean with a really nice breakfast. Traders and The Strand are a bit posher.
LOCAL:
The Orchid. I’ve stayed in some pretty local guesthouses- but in a bigger city, it is better to splurge a bit.

TRANSPORTATION:
LUX:
Not easy to procure, but we were able to rent a car for a road trip through the Yoma mountains. An option for a less seasoned traveler is to order a car with driver and visit sights via private guide.
LOCAL:
Bike rickshaw for two that have back to back seats, rent a bike or buy one in the local market. There are many second hand Japanese bicycles available. Leave it with a local when it’s time to depart.

CUISINE:
LUX:
One must have a Myanmar beer with a shot of fresh ginger at Union.
LOCAL:
Street food! Vegetarian pancakes (mont pyar thalet) are the best.
