KIDS:
As long as your kid is outdoorsy and adventurous they will love Scotland. It’s a very kid friendly place with loads of things for them to do. Locals will ply them with biscuits and chocolates and friendly farmers might even let them bottle-feed the lambs in the spring and summer.

LUX:
Horseback Riding at Torrisdale Stables
A private hour-long trek over the sand dunes is only £60. Kids as young as 4 can go out with the sweet and experienced owner Lorna Mackay.

LOCAL:
North Coast Leisure Centre
We never even gave this place a second thought until we had kids, but if you’ve had several days of rain and cold it’s kind of perfect. It’s got a pool with tons of floating toys, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, an exercise room and internet access. Apparently you can even set up a massage with a local masseuse. On the North Coast, in Bettyhill.
