While you will find some heavily tarted up ladies queuing outside of clubs in the freezing cold in miniskirts and heavy makeup, Scotland in general isn’t big on primping.
Unless you are planning to stay at a hotel with a spa make sure you get a good mani-pedi before you go - they are decades behind in the world of regular pampering - a manicure will cost you twice as much and be half as good as what you get at your average Manhattan salon. Same goes for skin treatments. Anyway, the damp fresh air in Scotland is the best facial you’ll ever have.
If you really need a beauty fix Boots is great. They are located on nearly every high street and combine a high-end department store makeup counter with the practicalities of a regular pharmacy. You can grab a tube of your favorite Lancôme mascara and some tissues all in one go.
