This part of the Texas Gulf Coast is paradise for bird-watching enthusiasts and anyone who desires a little peace and quiet. Take Highway 87 south through wet, sweet smelling marshes to Sabine Pass, where you’ll find the Texas Point National Wildlife Refuge. Afterwards, make a pit stop at Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary, where you can feel the sand beneath your toes and drive on the beach. Load up onto the Bolivar ferry to Galveston and a toll bridge to Follets Island where you can stop at Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary and Aransas National Wildlife Refuge before Corpus Christi.
