By Thursday’s, all we want is to be in the water… floating beside a dreamy beach, catching swells off the coast of a remote island, soaking somewhere familiar yet totally removed- spirited away from a restless state of mind.
To enter the water is to leave the material world behind. From seas of saline aquamarine to lakes like amber bathwater, swimming means an escape for as long as you can stay submerged-  re-entry replete with a coat of nature’s gilding and a calm exhilaration.
In celebration of swimming, a beloved self-centering escape, we give you a series of swim tales— serenity in Thailand and pleasure in Wyoming, comfort in Greece and possibility in Palm Springs, harmony in Maine and daring in India, among other places.
These stories are inspired by our favorite swimming memories, bodies of water, and the moments that keep us coming back to ourselves.
