Fall 2012 Runway designers ran away with oversized silhouettes for sweaters, blazers, and outerwear. These boxy styles call to mind vintage traveling trunks, complete with graceful limbs peeking out of exaggerated sleeves like silk scarves slipping from half closed parcels. They remind us of the body in passage—of the ease of tossing on a roomy cloak, putting a few items for a favorite escape in a little trunk, and heading out into the world.  Ladies and luggage on suitcase sabbaticals. Surely makes a case for life outside the frame.
