In 2009, artist SWOON launched a fleet of junk rafts- Swimming Cities of Serenissima - a circus of sustainability. Comprised of construction site cast offs and recycled scraps, the assemblage floated on the Adriatic Sea. Along the way, the crew collected pieces, adding daily to the Huckleberry Finnish contraption, which became an installation exhibit upon reaching the final destination in Venice. Retreating to an exclusive lake-topper teepee can be the ultimate getaway. Lounge in a hand painted canvas teepee on Lake Louise. Float in a recycled leather conical teepee under the peaks of the Mountains on Lake Matheson in New Zealand. Hover along the surface of Lake Champlain, the waters a looking glass into the self. At the end of the day retire into a pit of plush pillows with a lover- peacefully adrift inside a teepee pyramid on a recycled raft. September 2013 |
