A New Year is here, and in the heart of winter and the spirit of rebirth, we are seeking out a getaway that allows us to feel new again. It’s time to take refuge in warmer weather and lighter energy, in a destination that feels mentally and physically remote, that requires nothing but an easy sheath, a satchel for the road and a desire to disappear for a few days. We’ll step into our favorite looks from Spring 2013 for our escape – a black and white striped, floor-length homage to Edie Sedgwick and Factory-cool from Marc Jacobs, grown-up grunge assembled by way of Dries Van Noten, Saint Laurent’s modern-day reinvention of their original classics — and jet off via an acid rock soundtrack to the most trippy, removed locals– Easter Island circa 1973, a late ‘70s Kashmir, Tasmania in 1960. It’s a psychedelic vacation of the body and spirit, a blissed-out trip through National Geographic’s greatest vintage hits in the best of new fashion styles.
