STYLE: SPRING 2014 PREVIEW : PHOTOSYNTHESIS & FALL FOLIAGE

The temperature has dropped, the leaves are starting to change, and it is official – fall is here. The quiet nights and simple pleasures of a lux, autumnal retreat are on hand.  We’re ready to leave the suburb’s strain and concrete jungle chaos behind for a weekend escape in the heart of a now-radiant, sun kissed forest – to seek out the serenity of hiking alone in the woods, the solitary calm of settling down with a good book and nothing but the sound of the wind rustling through the trees' leaves and maybe, an ocean breeze in the background.

We’ll drive to the Post Ranch Inn on the cliffs of the California coast, where we’ll view the clear blue, Pine-framed waters of the Pacific from the floor-to-ceiling windows of our fireplace-heated suite, glass of Cabernet in hand, daydreaming about Jack Kerouac. In rural Montana, a spacious, extravagant home masquerading as a family-style campground is a city-dweller’s haven along the Blackfoot River. The Resort at Paws Up sits in a forest of brilliantly colored firs and ash trees in the fall.
We’ll wander the surrounding plains and snap photos, Ansel Adams in mind. A perfect escape from everyday routine. These are just a few of our favorite fall hideaways.
