   A DAY IN QUITO, ECUADOR:

Start the day early with breakfast at Republica Del Cacao. Be sure to have a cup of rich coffee and homemade cake. After breakfast walk around Plaza Foch to the Mercado Artesanal. Wander the aisles, shopping every regional souvenir and present imaginable.

After shopping head to Motes al Vuelo for a quick lunch, then grab a cab and go to the historic center of the city. Quito has an incredible amount of churches and convents - the Cathedral is definitely a must. The lavish interiors and colonial architecture makes this one of the most striking places in the city. Afterwards, head over to the Basílica del Voto Nacional. This is the largest neo-gothic church in the Americas and the top towers are open to visitors. If able, climb to the top- the view is breathtaking.

Finish the day with dinner at La Choza. This traditional restaurant has been open for over forty years and remains one of Quito’s most popular spots. If  feeling like some entertainment, head over to Teatro Nacional Sucre. The glamorous aura of the theatre will be the perfect end to a special day.
