“Dr. Hla Tun, an exceptional and tireless doctor, opened a riverside clinic* in Bagan in August 2011. He works in the clinic from Friday to Sunday. The first year, 350 patients a month were treated.  Currently, the number has reached 4700 patients. Some patients travel as far as 150km. During the rainy season the rivers swell and patients must wait long periods of time or stay overnight in trucks in order to be visited by Dr. Hla Tun and his staff. The clinic provides visitors with a free daily lunch of fish curry and rice. By the end of 2012, Dr. Hla Tun treated over 40,000 patients. The doctor took me to several remote villages where he is very active with humanitarian efforts. I quickly began to wonder if this man ever sleeps.”
