  With dedication and some sleuthing the European markets eventually began to produce their own Turkey Red dyes that maintained the characteristics of the original. The 18th century was a time of exploration, competition, and rivalry in the dye business. Even while processes refined, ingredients simplified, and colors proliferated, executing the natural dye recipes remained the craft of skilled workers. When the age of bright, industrially produced chemical colors dawned in the 1850s natural dyes fell out of fashion.
