January can give some people the blues. At Nomad, we seek solace during winter months in cerebral escapes, far away travels, and sometimes, in the very deep, calm color that we most associate with the coolest season. From Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye to Francois Ozon’s Swimming Pool, we take in compelling, often dark, blue-tinted offerings from our favorite writers, artists, musicians and directors.
Every season, we do a slideshow with blue runway looks & accompanying artsy highlights. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle with a paper-thin, cerulean Hermes blouse; a Jason Wu lace skirt the color of the ocean floor walking through the world of Pushkin’s The Captain's Daughter . In the depths of winter, we look to blues for inspiration and escape. From staring into the sea to synesthesia, it’s time for yet another season of azure- especially Yves Klein Blue , the hue canonized by fashion designers and Derridian scholars as signaling a specific sort of dense cultural splendor.
