If I could experience a place during a different era it would be…
Bamako, Mali, in the throes of independence in the late 1960s. I would love to have witnessed the mash-up of traditional and modern, east and west, colonial and independent. This heady mix created bang-up style, and compelling art of all kinds. One of my favorite artists—the photographer Seydou Keita--- was at the heart of this cultural movement. I feel so fortunate he documented the moment. What an exciting time to be alive and expressing one’s evolving self!
