If you had one million dollars to start a charity in a foreign country, what would that include? KIVA is a pretty incredible charity. They provide micro loans to people who live in areas where traditional bank loans aren’t available. The loans are interest free, and help residents of developing countries—especially women (80% of Kiva’s loans go to women)—start their own businesses, and in doing so, impact their communities. They’ve lent over 300 million since they were founded in 2005. I would start a personal variation on Kiva. February 2013 |
