NOMAD OF THE WEEK: SHIVA ROSE OF THE LOCAL ROSE: KAUAI : FIRST SOLO TRIP
  Name:
Shiva Rose*

Occupation:
Actress, writer, activist, mother and curator for The Local Rose

Hometown:
I’m Persian-American.
The first decade of my life was spent where the mountains meet the sea in the Persian land of nomads.

Live:
Roseland.
Today I live near the Santa Monica Mountains- in a utopian world of holistic living.

Current Projects:
Working on interviewing artisans for my site The Local Rose. I’m creating an organic, nourishing rose oil serum for the face that smells like Persian roses. It should be available in August. I’m also working on a film on Tina Modotti,  the 1930’s photographer.

*There’s something to be said for one’s name, and to be named Shiva Rose carries quite a legacy. Shiva is one of the central Hindu deities—the Supreme God, the Destroyer, the Transformer, an omniscient yogi. Rose is in a way the ultimate flower – the symbol of true love, rebirth, a plant native to Asia, Europe, North America, northwest Africa—essentially all over the world. It’s no wonder that Shiva Rose has such energy, is so Nomad Chic.
