What is your favorite destination in East Africa?
The city of Nairobi.

What hotel in East Africa would you happily recommend to anyone?
Hmmmmm…. so many to choose from! In the bush I would recommend Alex Walker's Serian camps - everyone loves them and he has expanded so that you can adventure beyond the Maasai Mara with his aesthetic and sensibility to Tanzania. At the coast I think I would recommend the room above the bar at Peponi's in Lamu. It's a cool mom-and-pop operation and the restaurant is wonderful with all cuisine fresh from the sea.
