What’s the best souvenir you’ve ever picked up on a trip?
Photos from my honeymoon in the Algarve. Beaded leg wraps made just for me in Panama by a Kuna Indian woman. I always love to support local artisans and have great bags, jewelry & home items that remind me of my travels in my home. Locally made gorgeous bed linens from Lisboa. Giant pieces of coral from Jamaica. A Fox skull from Long Island. Textiles from artisans all over the world. Shells galore ; large conch shells, whelks, augers limpets, cones, periwinkles, lion’s paws and olive shells. I love to find the scallop shells with naturally bored holes and string them together.

What do you miss most about home when traveling?
If he’s not with me, my husband. Just being with my husband is the most fun I can have anywhere. We laugh non-stop and love having time off together. Otherwise, our pets, Mooca and Chi Chi. My bed, my coffee and carob almonds, my favorite comfort food.

What do you miss most about traveling when home?
Feeling carefree. The sense of total freedom. It’s the best. Having all of your senses involved in discovery of a new place; the culture, tastes, colors, smells!
