What is the first trip you ever took on your own?
I travelled to Zanzibar in Africa when I was 18 on a gap year, teaching English and Math to school kids in government schools. It gave me my ‘itchy feet’, and inspired me to live and work around the world.

Chumbe island, just off the west coast of Zanibar,  is a private nature reserve and has been conserving the local reef and indigenous forest since 1991. It comprises seven eco-lodges, is completely eco friendly, with zero impact on the environment; rainwater catchment, photovoltaic energy and solar water heating, composting toilets, vegetative greywater filtration. I visited this island and over nighted in the middle of a tropical storm. It was insane. I will NEVER forget the enormous coconut crabs.
