]What is the first trip you ever took on your own?
La Joya del Sol, Costa Rica.
I had just left my job of four years as an assistant art director at Sephora and decided to spend a month somewhere I’d never been. I lived in a tent and rose early with the sun every morning. I prepared colorful raw meals in an open-air kitchen, ate a variety of local bananas and fell in love with papayas. I was able to explore a landscape that was unfamiliar to me, peppered with waterfalls that fell into natural pools beneath the canopy of a jungle forest.  I listened to howler monkeys bark in the distance and ran away from a pair of wild boars.

It was a beautiful adventure.
