How did you plan your trip?
My mother, Judy and I planned our trip.

This was our first mother daughter expedition. We decided to participate in a tour focused on textiles that would give us an insight into the weaving traditions, but also plenty of free time to explore on our own. One of our guides was the highly accomplished anthropologist, Susan Schaefer Davis. Susan has been traveling, living and working in Morocco since the 1960s and her vast knowledge and ability to connect us with friends and contacts made the experience personal and truly exceptional. I’m both envious of and absolutely inspired by Susan. It was nothing short of a pleasure to travel with her.

I’ve also been collecting recommendations for a long time, so I had an extensive list of places I hoped to visit. I read work by authors Paul Bowles, Fatima Mernissi and Paula Wolfert to acquire additional insight before traveling.
