STYLE I went in December, so it was subzero as soon as the sun went down. Paro and Thimphu are around 2200m above sea level, so it gets cold! Bring something to break the wind and comfy walking shoes. LOCAL STYLE National and traditional Bhutanese costume are Gho for men and Kira for women. A Kira is a piece of fabric that is cleverly wrapped and held in place with decorative pins. I bought a one-piece Kira, but it took me a while to master how to put it on. Take a video while the shopkeeper explains! SHOPS A clothes shop opposite the national handicraft emporium. There were a couple boutiques on Paro High Street, too. January 2013 |
