From the runways of Carven to Alexander Wang's sportswear, cutouts are everywhere. And while obviously sexy, this warm-weather trend also calls to mind something a little more cerebral and spiritual- the seven chakras.

Named for the Sanskrit word for wheel, the chakras represent circles of energy pinned to different points in the body, all rooted along the spine. Each center is associated with specific emotions and characteristics depending on its location. Levels of energy that when blocked or unbalanced can manifest in the physical world. Cutouts draw attention to each region in turn. Bringing us quite visibly to our energy centers.

We invite you to take a journey through the seven chakras, as seen through the cutouts of the spring collections. Looking through the runway shows, so many of the styles that are chakra-reminiscent happen to be white.  In chakras, white symbolizes clarity, cleanliness, and fresh beginnings. Bare red branches as trippy, turning wheels - red like strength, poison, and passion – provide an extra source of energy to counterbalance the pure clothes. Rorschach tests meet ink-stained human lungs. Blurred veins giving us oxygen- the cycle of inhalation and exhalation that defines life- bringing us back to ourselves, back to our chakras.
