Tummy, belly, stomach — our core has many names. We hear a lot about the importance of having a strong one and for most this conjures images of abdominal muscles. Today we are mulling over an alternative meaning for “core strength” starring another stomach synonym: gut. And not the kind you get after indulging in a few too many treats. We're talking about instinct, that inner compass that helps us navigate toward our intended place in the world.
Like physical strength though, developing a gut sense (and, better yet, learning to trust it) takes practice and hard work. For NOMAD, travel has been a profound tool for building self-knowledge and intuition. It’s a sort of spiritual sit-up. As most travelers know, introspection can sometimes be difficult. But like exercise, the more often you work at it, the stronger and more graceful you become. And, it’s never too late to begin. 2012 |
