STYLE: A HISTORY OF NATURAL DYE by Anna Yanofsky
Remember color? Today’s return to the natural processes that first deposited color on cloth is vibrant. The bygone idea of natural dyes being light or muted has faded into the fray. From eco-luxury fashion collection Awaveawake to From the Road ’s custom recipes, contemporary textile artists are embracing sustainable methods of dying. Even a color as deep as a rich red can be created naturally—with the right ingredients, of course.  In particular a deep, true red that dominates Spring’s subtler hues. It bites into the warmth of the new season without any hesitation.
