In the following slideshow, we invite you to take a journey through the seven chakras, as seen through the cutouts of the spring collections. Named for the Sanskrit word for wheel, the Chakras represent circles of energy pinned to different points in the body, all rooted along the spine. Each center is associated with specific emotions and certain characteristics depending on its location. Levels of energy that when blocked or unbalanced can manifest in the physical world. Cutouts can be said to draw attention to each region in turn. Bringing us quite visibly to our energy centers. The backgrounds, created by Warrior Heart Studio, show mirrored bare branches as trippy, turning wheels. Rorschach tests meet ink-stained human lungs. Blurred veins giving us oxygen- the cycle of inhalation and exhalation that defines life- bringing us back to ourselves, back to our chakras. In the image above, The Crown , or Sahasrara, the chakra of pure consciousness, is illuminated. It is located at the top of the head, and represents the part of our consciousness related to unity and separation. It’s one of the most subtle elements – it can bring clarity and perception, or when off-balance, depression and confusion. The 1000 petalled lotus is the symbol of the Crown. The mantra for the Crown is “I understand.” ~ Ashley Simpson April 2013 |
