If you had one million dollars to start a charity in a foreign country, what would that include?
On the charity angle - my dream from a creative standpoint is to work with female artisans in India, to produce jewelry and textiles within self sustaining craft business’; to link up with an international organization like Kiva, Aid to Artisans or Women for Women International. I am also extremely committed to supporting female entrepreneurship and empowerment in the US, which we support through our Stella & Dot Foundation. The Foundation supports three charities in the US – Accion, a global microlending institution, buildOn, a group that brings together urban teens to build schools in developing countries, and Girls Inc., which serves girls from at-risk communities across the United States and Canada. Girls Inc. is an afterschool environment which provides positive enforcement as young women mature and creates a foundation for self-respect and leadership. People can donate directly to the foundation through our site, and we also donate a portion of our proceeds to it.
